Living the Acts 1:8 Challenge


 Prayer Leaders Needed:  We have added a special prayer for our nation and it’s division each week during the morning worship service.  We are putting together a schedule of people to lead the prayers.  Please contact Pastor Craig  at 304-255-4021 or Rick Smith  at 304-573-7123 if you are interested in participating. 
Farewell Dinner for the Reddens: Come join us Wednesday, May 15th at 6:00 pm to say goodbye to Sherman, Stephanie, Jennifer and Summer Redden. Sherman has accepted a position as Church Day Care Director in Kentucky. We will miss them and appreciate all the work they have done at Northgate. The Reddens have requested pizza, salad and ice cream. The church will provide the pizzas and drinks. If you haven't signed up to bring anything, please contact Ramona Meadows.  This dinner will take the place of our regular potluck dinner.
Children’s Church Change: Beginning May 19, Children 3 yrs - 5th grade will go directly to Children’s Church at 11:00 am for a kid oriented time of worship. Anyone wanting to help, please contact Beth Stewart at 304-683-6848 or Melody Sansom at 304-573-8543
Last Day to Pack Lunch Bags: Our last day to pack Lunch Bags will be on Wednesday, May 22.  So come out and help pack the final lunch bags for the preschoolers we have helped all year long.
Children and Youth Singing at Pine Lodge: The Younger Children’s choir, ages 3 yrs - 5th grade, and the Youth, ages 6-12 grade will be singing at Pine Lodge Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 29, at 6:30. Parents may bring their children and youth at 6:15 to Pine Lodge, go to Bible Study, and pick them up at Pine Lodge at 7:30. They are also welcome to stay as well. The children and youth will be singing hymns.
End Of School Bash Wednesday, June 5, 6-8 pm: Come celebrate the end of school with a big bash! Come join us in the church playground and picnic pavilion for a big cookout with hot dogs, chips, and other goodies. Bring your friends and neighbors and help celebrate the end of school, and the beginning of summer with food, fellowship and lots of fun.
Children’s Activity: Saturday, June 8 - Little Beaver Park’s Annual Fishing Derby - 9:00 - 12:00 pm. It’s fishing time again! Bring your children ages 3 yrs to 5th grade, their fishing pole, and come out to Little Beaver State Park for a day full of fun and fishing. Help Kierston on her Summer Mission Trip: Kierston Walker, on of our college students at Marshall, is involved with a Christian campus ministry called Cru. She is being led to Montana this summer, to share the gospel with the Blackfoot Indian people. Only 3 % of Native Americans are Christians. But she needs our to help send her. She needs to raise $2538.00 by June 23. You can donate online by going to If you give want to write a check, please make sure it’s payable to CRU and put Kierston Walker’s Mission Trip on the memo line. If you choose to give through prayer, she asks that you pray that they reach the Blackfoot people, plant seeds that will later be watered by God, and for their journey to and from Montana. She will be gone from July 1 - Aug. 5. She would like to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support.

Help Needed: The Redden Family is moving to take a new position on Kentucky, and we will miss them.  We need to fill the positions they hold in the church before the end of May, as well as some other positions that are vacant.  If you feel led to take one or more of these positions, please contact one of the members of the Nominating Committee members as soon as possible.  They are: Sherman or Stephanie Redden - 304-253-5508; Heather Fauber - 304-222-1185.  The positions needing filled are: Sunday School Director, Head of Personnel Committee, 2 tellers, 1 person for Nominating Committee, 1 couple for Ordinance Committee (they handle baptisms & the Lord's Supper preparations); 4 people to help teach the Youth Sunday School class ( you will alternate Sundays); 2 people to help teach Youth on Wednesday (alternate months); 3 greeters for Sunday Morning.
Change in Format for PrayerPoints Newsletter: Starting in June, the IMB no longer will be printing their PrayerPoints newsletter.  It will be going digital.  You can still get it, but it will be sent to you via e-mail or you can access it on the internet.  If you would like to sign up for it, you may go  to and sign up for the digital version.  If you are unable to receive a digital version by e-mail or web, you may call them at 1-800-999-3113 for assistance.  If you have any questions, you can call the church office at 304-255-4021 or the 800 number listed above. 
Roof Contributions: We are now taking up contributions for the replacement of the roof of the Educational Building. If you would like to contribute to this fund, write your check out to Northgate Baptist Church, and on the memo line put ‘roof’.
Another Way To Help The Backpack Ministry:  We will periodically put a list of items on the Backpack Ministry website that we use to pack the Backpacks that are on sale at Sam's Club.  If you have a Sam's Club card, and would like to purchase any of these items we would greatly appreciate it.  You may drop them off when you come to church in the provided container in the foyer.  You may also drop them off during the week at the office, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 - 2:00.  If you have any questions, please call the church office at 304-255-4021.

Kroger Community Rewards Program:  This program will benefit our Back Pack Program. If you have a Kroger Card, you can register it with this program to earn money for the Back Pack Program by following the instructions below.  Our NPO number is: JU982.

 3. If a member does not yet have a Kroger Plus card, you can obtain one at the customer service desk at any Kroger store.
 4. Click on sign in/register.
 5. Most participants are new online customers, so they must click on SIGN UP TODAY in the ‘New Customer?’ box.
 6. Sign up for a Kroger Rewards Account by entering zip code, clicking on favorite store, entering your e-mail address and creating a      password, agreeing to the terms and conditions.
 7. You will then get a message to check your e-mail inbox and click on the link within the body of the e-mail.
 8. Click on My Account and use your e-mail address and password to proceed to the next step.
 9. Click on Edit Kroger Community Rewards information and input your Kroger Plus card number
10. Update or confirm your information.
11. Enter NPO number or name of organization, select organization from list and click on confirm.
12. To verify you are enrolled correctly, you will see your organization’s name on the right side of your information page.
13. REMEMBER, purchases will not count for your group until after your member(s) register their card(s).

Devohub: This is a devotional ministry offered by the church.  Go to the app store and down load the Devohub app while at church, then you will have devotions wherever you go!  There are devotions for all age groups that are updated daily. 
We Now Have Online Giving!  The church has the availability for you to give online through our website,  Click on the button in the middle of the home page, and it will allow you to use your debit and credit cards to make your offering.  You can also choose from different things to donate to, such as Regular Budget, Annie Armstrong, Lottie Moon, etc.  So if you miss a Sunday, don’t worry - you can just go online and put in your offering without missing a beat.  It will also keep track of your donations for the end of the year tax time as well, so don’t worry about that either.  Try it out and see what you think, and let us know.
New easyTithe Giving App: We now have an app that you can download onto your phone which will allow you to give to the church. You can download it onto any Apple or Android phone through the Google play or App store. Look up easyTithe, and download it onto your phone. You will need to register once it’s downloaded, then look up the church, and you can then donate through your phone. Prayer Chain:  If you have any prayer concerns or someone ill in your family you would like to have put on the prayer chain, please contact our Prayer Chain Coordinator Vanessa Scott at 304-644-8431 or e-mail her at  She will get your prayer concerns out to those on the prayer chain and your loved one will be prayed over by our prayer chain.  If you would like to join our prayer chain, you can contact her, or contact the church office at 304-255-4021 or e-mail us at Either contact can also answer your questions about the prayer chain as well.
Announcements and Inserts:  If you would like to have an announcement put in the bulletin, please have the information  to the church office by Thursday morning.  If you would like an insert put in the bulletin, please have the information to us no later than Wednesday by 1:00 pm.  The bulletin is usually printed around noon on Thursday, so this will ensure your announcement makes it in on time.
Notary service available:   Anita Henry, our Church Secretary, can notarize any papers you may need notarized.  Just bring your papers by the church office during the hours of 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday.  This is a free service offered through the church. 
To Schedule an Event If you would like to schedule an event, please call the church office between the hours of 9:00 am -2:00 pm, Monday - Thursday to have your event placed on the church calendar.  You will also need to stop by between those same hours to sign out a key to unlock the church, and sign a use of building form.  You will be responsible for removing your decorations and cleaning up after the event.   Please take home any towels and wash cloths that you have used and launder them and return them to the church.
