Back Pack Ministry

Fighting Children's Hunger With a Backpack
At Northgate Baptist Church, one of our missions is feeding children in our community.  Currently we serve 2 schools in Raleigh County. We provide food during the weekends.  We pack 120 backpacks on Wednesday nights after Wednesday night services during the school year, but many more children are still in need of weekend meals.  By working together, we can provide the needs of our community one backpack at a time.

If you have any questions on how you can help, please contact James Watkins at
(304)-253-4996 OR (304)-228-7760.

One hundred percent of your donation is for food.  None of your money will be spent on administrative costs.  All of your donations are tax deductible.  We try to pack each bag as nutritionally sound as possible.  We try to pack foods that kids don't have to cook or refrigerate.  Sample food items packed in the bags include: Slim Jims, cereal bars, fruit snacks,  animal crackers, peanut  butter crackers, apple sauce cups, pudding cups,
juice boxes, and nuts.

You can go to our main web page and donate to the Back Pack Ministry at any time.  You can also send a  check to Northgate Baptist Church, 301 Pinewood Dr., Beckley, WV  25801.  On the memo line put "Back Pack Ministry".

We are now packing our backpacks on Wednesday nights
immediately following our Wednesday night Bible study.  Everyone is invited to participate in packing backpacks, no matter what age.  If you would like to come early to help prepare the tables to pack the backpacks, meet at the church at 5:00 pm in Fellowship Hall.  It is a time for fun, fellowship, and work in a ministry to help feed hungry children over the weekend. A ministry that we at Northgate have taken to our hearts, because nobody likes to see a child go hungry.
